I BASIC PART NUMBER | The number in position “I” is the first to look for in a BULTACO part number. This is the most basic part of the number and tells you the section to which a part belongs. BULTACO parts are divided into about twenty different sections, with each section having its own identification number. The number for the FRAME section is 00, STEERING 01, FRONT SUPENSION 02, etc. The Table of Contents has a complete listing of the sections and the number which is applicable to each. By noting the number ln position “I”, you can quickly identify the section to which a part belongs. This Parts Catalog is arranged in numerical order by section. FRAME 00 being first, STEERING 01 second, FRONT SUSPENSION 03 third, 04, 05, 06,07, etc. |
II SUFFIX | The number ln position “II” is the next to note. The first three digits of this suffix number identify the item within the section. Each item within the section is given a different identification number. A Cylinder Liner is 028, Piston 035, Ring 041, etc. All Cylinder Liners, regardless of size or other differences, will have 028 in this position. The first three digits of the suffix number are often followed by a das(-), a slash (/), parenthesis () and any of many combinations of numbers and letters (example: 48.10-020-1(3)), These have reference to color, size, material or subsequent modification and further identify the item. |
III PREFIX | The number in position “III” is the final to note. This prefix number further identifier the item. Taking part number 68.10-035 for example, the 10 in position “I” tells us that it is an ENGINE part, the 035 in position “II” indicates that it is a PISTON, and the 68 in position “III” specifies the model (Pursang MK IV) for which the part was originally designed. Frequently due to the great degree of interchangeability this part will be used in a later model. At the bottom is a sample of proper numerical arrangement of a random selection of BULTACO part. You will note that numerical arrangement is first of section (I), then of suffix (II) and finally by prefix (III). When arranging items in your parts department, this same numerical arrangement should be observed |
